Section 2: FAQs about Nelson Studios
2.1 Are you're LEGO animations computer generated?
No, we use a technique called Stop-Motion Animation (Think Claymation). We take a picture of the real LEGO bricks and minifigs, make a small movement, take another picture, make another movement, take another picture, move the minifigs again... you get the point. We take 15 pictures for every second of the movie (15 frames per second). Live action movies are shot at 24 or 30 frames per second.
2.2 How long does it take to make a brickfilm?
A long time. We have to take 15 pictures for ever 1 second of animation that you see. To give you an idea of how long that really takes, we've spent over 5 hours animating 21 seconds of footage.
2.3 Could I make a brickfilm?
Sure, all it takes is some LEGO bricks, an inexpensive web cam, and free software. If you're interested in learning more about brickfilming/Stop-Motion, Brickfilms.com is an excellent resource.
2.4 Can I help with one of you're films? What could I do?
Mostly what we need help with is voice actors. If you're interested, see the Voice Actor Auditions forum. Also, leaving us feedback is EXTREMELY helpful to us. We want to know what you liked/didn't like about any of our animations and the website. You can leave feedback in the appropriate forum, or we have a short e-mail form that you can fill out and send anonymously. Also, if you know how to compose music, we would LOVE to have some music written for any of our films.
2.5 Can I get a DVD of your animations? How much would it cost?
If you want a FREE DVD of our films, just e-mail me your address. If you live outside the USA, you may have to pay for shipping/import fees. |
